ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN

CURRENT ARMY FLAGS

Notes

The badge of the Pakistan Army, crossed swords under the national star and crescent on a field of green, is worn on the uniform in the form of a circular shoulder insignia. It also appears on the army flag (a variant of the national flag), the flag of the chief of army staff and the flag for general officers. Other flags of the Army are similar to those used by the Indian Army in the time of the British Raj and by the contemporary Indian Army. For commands and corps the circular formation sign is rendered in flag form. For divisions and brigades a simplified rendition of the formation sign is placed on a swallowtailed red flag. Brigades organic to divisions have a triangular red pennant with the division formation sign; separate brigades have pennants with the formation sign of the higher headquarters to which they are assigned, e.g. a corps. On division and brigade flags and pennants the formations are all depicted in red on a black field regardless of the color scheme of the shoulder insignia version. Division commanders have a black pennant with the formation sign enclosed by a red ring. Strategic Forces Command and its two subordinate division controls Pakistan's arsenal of nuclear-armed ballistic missiles. Their distinctive flags reflect nuclear mission.

Flag Proportions: Pakistan army flags are made in 2:3 proportions.
