The 1st Brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division was a balanced formation with two armor and two mechanized infantry battalions. Cavalry units organized and equipped as heavy armored formations or mechanized infantry used the designations battalion and company in place of squadron and troop. The 3-141 Infantry (Mechanized) was a round-out battalion from the Texas Army National Guard.
