COMBAT COMMAND B, 3rd ARMORED DIVISION
Cold War Organization    1960

In 1960 Combat Command B (CCB) of the 3rd Armored Division had one medium tank battalion (M48 Patton tanks armed with a 90mm gun) one armored rifle (infantry) battalion and one armored cavalry reconnaissance squadron attached (M41 Walker Bulldog tanks armed with a 76mm gun). Also attached was one company of the heavy tank battalion (M103 tanks armed with a 120mm gun) of the 4th Armored Group. None of these units were organic to CCB, which like the division's other two combat commands could be task organized with any mix of units deemed necessary. A typical task organization might consist of the units shown below plus one of the division's 105mm self-propelled field artillery battalion and a company of the division's combat engineer battalion.
