201st BATTLEFIELD SURVEILLANCE BRIGADE (UEx)
Unit Guidons

The mission of the US Army's battlefield surveillance brigade (BFSB) is to support a force commander with an in-depth, real-time view of the area of operations. To that end the brigade employs a variety of technical and tactical assets, from drones to ground reconnaissance. These capabilities are provided by two military intelligence battalions and a cavalry reconnaissance squadron. The MI battalions specialize in technical collection, communications and electronics, and counterintelligence/human intelligence functions. The cavalry reconnaissance squadron has two light motorized ground reconnaissance troops and one long-range surveillance (LRS) troop whose scout/sniper teams are capable of being deployed by helicopter or parachute. Like the Army's modular combat brigades, the BFSB has its own organic support elements: a separate signal company and a separate forward support company.
The organization described above is the the standard for BFSB's but not all of them conform to it. Active Army brigades have both MI battalions but some of the National Guard brigades have only one. Also in some cases the full cavalry reconnaissance squadron is not present, being represented by a separate LRS troop or company. Some National Guard brigades also have attached miscellaneous units over which they exercise peacetime command and control; such units are not part of the BFSB structure and would not deploy with them.
Guidons for units of the BFSB are of the standard Army patterns. As a separate support company, the 602nd FSC has a buff guidon with numerals and the Quartermaster branch insignia in scarlet.
