CURRENT AIR FORCE FLAGS
The current flag of the Republic of China Air Force (ROKAF) was adopted in 1993, when the color of the service's insignia was changed from gold to silver. This insignia places the pilot wings of the Air Force over a wreath of rice stalks joined by a plum blossom. Air Force unit colors have a similar design, with the size of the insignia reduced to make room for a vertical white panel at the hoist on which is inscribed the name of the unit and yellow fringe. And exception is the ceremonial color of the ROKAF Honor Guard, which is red with a canton of the Air Force Flag, the unit badge in the lower fly and name of the unit on a yellow panel. Appointment and rank flags of the Air Force are again based on the service's flag. That of the Chief of Staff has a yellow frame, while that of the Vice Chief of Staff has horizontal yellow stripes. For general officers the insignia is raised enough to make room for silver gray stars denoting rank or, in the case of the flag for full colonels, three plum blossoms.
