MILITARY FLAGS & ENSIGNS
SINCE
1984 |
Since 1984, the national flag of Egypt has been the red-white-black horizontal tricolor with the eagle of Saladin centered on the white stripe--a return to the historical Arab Liberation Flag of 1952. The eagle stands on a tablet inscribed with the name of the state in Arabic characters. The artistic rendition of the eagle may vary as shown below, but the war flag and the presidential flag always display the eagle with the shield on its breast striped in the national colors. In addition to the naval ensign, there is also a naval flag for ceremonial use. Since the president is also supreme commander of the armed forces, his flag displays the eagle with striped shield in the upper hoist. In other respects that naval and military flags of Egypt are identical to those used prior to 1984. Images Added August 2001 Naval
