NAVAL ENSIGNS, FLAGS & PENNANT SINCE 2022
 

In 2022, the Indian Navy decided to change the ensign, commissioning pennant, and rank flags it has flown since 2004, replacing the Cross of St. George with the new naval badge, an anchor surmounted by the state emblem, the Sarnath Lion Capital. The Presidential Colour of the Navy was also revised to display the naval badge beneath the Sarnath Lion Capital. The new rank flags display the naval badge centered and stars according to rank toward the hoist. The national flag continued to serve as the Indian naval jack, and the naval reserve ensign was not changed.
Adoption Date: The new ensign, presidential colour, commissioning pennant and rank flags were officially adopted on 2 September 2022.
Flag Proportions: Proportions of of the naval ensign, jacks and rank flags are 1:2.The national flag/jack and naval reserve ensign have 2:3 proportions.
