NAVAL ENSIGNS & FLAGS SINCE 2003

Notes

After a period of some confusion between 1992 and the early 2000's, the Navy of Ukraine adopted a new set of ensigns, flags and pennants in 2003. Most of these are similar to versions previously in use, but the same shade of blue employed for the national flag of Ukraine is now used for the cross of the naval ensign. The new rank and appointment flags are all based on the ensign, with badges or stars added. The national flag charged with a white cross, used as a jack by Border Guard vessels, is now also the naval jack. The new naval auxiliary ensign displays the national flag rather than the naval ensign as a canton. The commissioning pennant and senior officer's pennant were changed to match the ensign.

Flag Proportions: Ukrainian naval ensigns and flags (except commissioning pennants) are made in 2:3 proportions.
