The aviation assault battalion conducts airmobile operations with UH-60 helicopters. The flying units are supported by maintenance and forward support companies organic to the battalions, backed up by an aviation support battalion. The MQ-1C Gray Eagle drone aircraft is operated by a separate aviation company; operationally it would be controlled by the force (division or corps) headquarters.
