2nd CAVALRY REGIMENT (STRYKER) (UEx)
Regimental Colors & Unit Guidons
|
Though it has a
regimental identity, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment is organized as a Stryker
Brigade Combat Team, with only minor modifications. The forward support
companies are organic to the squadrons they support and are titled
troop
rather than
company.
Throughout the numbered squadrons, the troops are lettered in sequence,
with the letter J
being skipped. The troops of the two named squadrons are independently
lettered.
Those of the field artillery squadron are titled battery rather
than troop.
Organizational colors for
regiments and seperate battalions are 3 feet at the hoist by 4 feet on
the fly with 2 1/2-inch fringe. With certain exceptions, the field of
the color is in the first-named branch color and the fringe is in the
second-named branch color. They are made of heavyweight rayon banner
cloth with the insignia applied to appear properly on both sides of the
color. Campaign and unit decoration streamers are
always displayed with these flags. Organizational colors are always
carried or displayed with a National Color of the same material and
dimensions. Troop guidons are red over white, with the regimental number
in the upper half, the squadron number or monogram vertically centered
and countercharged at the hoist, and the troop letter in the lower half.
Dimensions are 20 inches at the hoist by 27 inches on the fly with a
10-inch fork. Insignia and numerals are applied to read properly on both
sides of the guidon.Guidons are now made of heavyweight rayon banner
cloth, but serviceable older examples made of wool or cotton bunting may
still be used.
