The 1st Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division was a balanced formation with two armored battalions (M1 tanks armed with a 105mm gun) and two mechanized infantry battalions (M113 APCs). The 2-136 Infantry (Mechanized) was a round-out battalion from the Minnesota Army National Guard.
