COMBAT AVIATION BRIGADE, 26th INFANTRY DIVISION

The Combat Aviation Brigade of the 26th Infantry Division included a cavalry reconnaissance squadron with three armored recon troops and one air troop. The former were equipped with M60A1 tanks and M113A1 cavalry reconnaissance vehicles; the latter was equipped with both light observation (OH-6A) and attack (AH-1S) helicopters. The attack helicopter battalion's primary equipment was the AH-1F. The general support aviation battalion was responsible for command operations, air assault and medivac missions; its primary equipment was the UH-1H. The brigade did not have an aviation support battalion; instead, support was provided by the headquarters & service and aviation maintenance companies of the two aviation battalions.
