DIVISION SUPPORT COMMAND, 1st ARMORED DIVISION Cold War Organization  •  1988

The Division Support Command of the 1st Armored Division was commanded by the division G-4 (senior staff officer responsible for logistics) and controlled all the combat service support units of the division: a main support battalion and three forward support battalions, one for each maneuver brigade. (The aviation brigade with its specialized requirements had its own aviation support battalion.) Also assigned for administrative purposes to the DISCOM were the division's base units:  the air defense artillery, combat engineer and military intelligence battalions, and the divisional military police and chemical companies.
