UNITED STATES ARMY
DIVISION SUPPORT COMMAND, 7th INFANTRY DIVISION
Cold War Organization • 1988
The Division Support Command of the 7th Infantry Division was commanded by the division G-4 (senior staff officer responsible for logistics) and controlled all the combat service support units of the division: a supply & transportation battalion, a maintenance battalion, and a medical battalion. (The aviation brigade with its specialized requirements had its own aviation support battalion.) Also assigned for administrative purposes to the DISCOM were the division's base units: the air defense artillery, combat engineer and military intelligence battalions, and the divisional military police and chemical companies. Tactically, however, these base units were controlled by the division headquarters.
