3rd INFANTRY DIVISION TRAINS
Cold War Organization    1960

In 1958 the 3rd Infantry Division Trains (logistical support command) embodied three battalions and three separate companies. The transportation battalion was a flexible-type organization to which a varying number of separate companies could be assigned; at the time it controlled four light truck companies. The 3rd Administration Company was an Adjutant General unit and used the guidon specified for that branch. Since Army aviation had not yet been organized as a branch, the 3rd Aviation Company used the guidon specified for units not orientated to branch: teal blue with the Branch Unassigned insignia and the abbreviation AVN after the company number.
