1st INFANTRY DIVISION (UEx) HEADQUARTERS & HEADQUARTERS BATTALION GUIDONS  •  INITIAL CONFIGURATION

Under the UEx concept, the division headquarters battalion, which replaced the division special troops battalion, is designed to make the division headquarters a stand-alone, self-supporting organization. As initially configured, headquarters battalions had four companies: Headquarters and Support Company (administrative support and security), Operations Company (command and control), Signal Company (communications) and Intelligence & Sustainment Company (intelligence and logistics). In 2017, however, The signal company was merged into the intelligence and sustainment company to form a new SIS company.
