The 1st Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division was a balanced formation with two armor battalions (M60A3 tanks armed with a 105mm gun) and two mechanized infantry battalions (M113 APCs). The 2-120 IN was a round-out unit from the North Carolina ARNG.
