The Division Artillery (DIVARTY) of the 2nd Infantry Division consisted of a headquarters battery, three FA battalions equipped with 155mm self-propelled howitzers, a composite battalion with three batteries of 203mm self-propelled howitzers and one battery with the MLRS system, a battery with the Lance surface-to-surface missile, and a separate target acquisition battery (TAB). Each 155mm howitzer battalion was in direct support (DS) of a maneuver brigade, while the 203mm/MLRS battalion and the Lance battery provided general support and reinforcing (GSR) fires.The target acquisition battery employed sound, flash and radar methods to locate and classify targets.
