UNITED STATES ARMY
3rd BRIGADE, 26th INFANTRY DIVISION
Cold War Organization • 1988
The 3rd Brigade controlled five of the 26th Infantry Division's eight assigned infantry battalions. (The other three fell under the 43rd Infantry Brigade of the Connecticut ARNG.) One of these five, the 1-101 IN, was a mechanized infantry battalion which would probably have been allotted to the 86th Armored Brigade of the Vermont ARNG.
Infantry battalions of the Army National Guard were mostly organized under the Army of Excellence (AoE) scheme with a headquarters company, three lettered rifle companies and a combat support (CS) company.
